Your questions answered…

When should I start hypnobirthing?

I would recommend booking a class once you’ve had your 20 week scan. Every Hypnobirthing Masterclass or Confident Birth Course listed on my website has recommended “due dates” so you can pick the classes that best suit you.

Don’t panic if you think you’ve left it too late though! I’ve taught the Hypnobirthing Masterclass to people as late in their pregnancy as 39 weeks and they have left feeling confident and prepared for the days/weeks ahead! Please feel free to get in touch with me to discuss your options.

How many sessions are there and how long are they?

The Hypnobirthing Masterclass is a one-off, stand alone session lasting approximately four hours.

The Confident Birth Course includes 15 hours of face to face classes, spread across five three-hour sessions. We also have a one hour social reunion after all of the babies have arrived.

Can my partner attend?

Yes! Ideally it is good for your birth partner to attend every session with you where possible. We will cover information that will help partners to feel calm and in control, and to help them to feel confident in the role they can play.

What if labour doesn’t go as planned?

This is something we will cover in depth. Birth can be unpredictable and nobody can promise you a straightforward experience. However, with the skills you will learn in Beyond Birth classes you will be able to navigate your journey confidently and calmly, wherever it takes you.

I’m having a planned caesarean birth! Can hypnobirthing help me?

Yes! Hypnobirthing is not just for people who are planning for an unmedicated birth – it can be transformative for EVERYONE! Whether you’re having a planned caesarean birth or you’re planning to give birth on your own in the woods, the key is to feel positive, calm and in control and I can’t wait to arm you with the knowledge and skills to feel just that.

Do I need any previous experience?

No, not at all! Just come as you are! Whether you’ve been burying your head in the sand about pregnancy and this is the first time you’ve really thought about things, or you’re a pregnant doctor or midwife who wants a fresh outlook and a new perspective - everyone’s welcome and no experience or prior knowledge is expected.

I am LGBTQ+, are your sessions inclusive?

Absolutely! I will always use your preferred pronouns and I use inclusive language in all of my sessions. I am committed to inclusivity in all areas. This is something that is very important to me and I am proud to uphold these values in my work.

Where are your classes held?

My classes are held at my cosy workshop space on Haywra Street in central Harrogate (between the railway station and Asda). It is a comfortable ‘home from home’ venue, with sofas, blankets, snacks, gentle lights and calm vibes. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!
